just like that she is 3.
it has flown by.
last year for her 2nd. birthday we had a huge, fun & crazy party. one thing I learned from that party is that it was great to have all of our family & loved ones together to celebrate but she wasn’t old enough to handle it. it became more about the adults & less about Sophia’s second birthday. she couldn’t enjoy it because when there are that many people all together it is hard for her, she gets frazzled & confused & hyper & cranky & just worn out & it is so hard to keep her focused on any one thing when there is so much going on. Maybe for her 4th. or 5th. birthday we will have another blow out party??!!
so this year we did things a little different. she had a yummy breakfast, her grandpa came to see her in the morning & they talked & played on the floor & they actually got to spend time together. she got to play in the afternoon & take a decent nap & wake up & have ice cream. that evening her grammy mary & Arthur came for pizza & cake & to open presents. of course she was excited, by this time she realized it was HER day. we sang to her, she blew out her candles & then we re lit the candles & sang again, she loved it. we played outside, blew bubbles, ran around & that was that. it was awesome. it was so low stress, for her & for me. it was perfect. then she got to celebrate again the next day with her meme & papa, we went to their house for more singing & cake & fun gifts & it was perfect. she actually got to spend time with each of her grandparents for her birthday & to me that is what it is all about.
happy 3 baby girl.
you got your 3rd. angel this year Sophia. my grandma gave me one every year until I was 16 & now you will receive them each year Sophia. a gift from your momma & your great grandma Margie that would just love you to pieces if she were here…
she went running to that door screaming “maaammmmyyyy” which in translation is “grammy”
opening presents. all day her gifts were on the table & all day I kept telling her she had to wait for daddy to get home from work to open her gifts. she did so good, she just kept saying “oookkkkkkk” & then she would put her head down in disappointment, so sad & yet so cute. as soon as her dad walked into the kitchen he was talking to Arthur & Sophia saw him, said “HI DADDY”!!! & off she went to rip open her gifts. I almost stopped her but all day I had told her as soon as her dad got home, so as soon as her dad got home she was on it. ha.
she is ready for summer. as I type this Mikayla & Sophia are outside in the pool, with the umbrella up & the teepee all set up. we either need to put up a fence or move to that farm I keep talking about. i’m pretty sure the neighbors think we are nuts.
I completely realize that this is an obnoxious amount of “blowing out the candles” photos but oh my gosh, just watch her face. she loves it. she loves every second of it. she loves being sung to, she loves singing along & she really loves everyone clapping for her while she blows out the candles.
I guess that is why we did the whole thing twice. ha. happy birthday Sophia, your mama’s got your back, I will sing to you as many times as you can handle.
time to go play outside…
happy birthday Sophia. you are an amazing, sweet little girl.
I made this little collage of photos from when you were born & it is now hanging in your room. I love that you love to point out all the members of your family. honestly, I cant believe it has been 3 years girlie. we are so blessed to have you.
